The first race weekend of 2019 is over! We saw one IAAF Gold Label Marathon and a plethora of high level cross country races with athletes looking to hone their craft ahead of the World Championships in 12 weeks time. At Italy’s Campaccio Cross International, two of the top athletes were forced to withdraw at the last minute due to visa issues, paving the way for a convincing Yasemin Can victory on the women’s side. For the men, it’s was Hagos Gebrhiwet who emerged victorious from the highly anticipated battle between himself and Selemon Barega. Meanwhile, the Ethiopians locked out both podiums at China’s Xiamen Marathon and Rop and Mohammed claimed Arab Cross Country titles.
